Since its foundation in 1985, Ellex® has been a trailblazer in ophthalmic technology. Initially established as Quentron Optics, the company received its first significant boost through a government grant aimed at developing laser technology for ophthalmology. This pivotal milestone led to the formation of Laserex, which would later evolve into Ellex®—a brand recognized globally for its leadership in therapeutic lasers and diagnostic devices.
Over the years, Ellex® served as the OEM manufacturer of YAG lasers for Alcon from 1992 to 2012. This role solidified the company’s reputation and expertise in laser technology, further enhanced when Ellex® expanded its OEM manufacturing capabilities to include YAG and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) lasers for Coherent and Lumenis between 1999 and 2005.
In 2005, the company adopted the name Ellex®, marking a significant transition from being solely an OEM manufacturer to becoming a direct supplier of ophthalmic devices to end-users, thereby reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality medical technology.
